Ethernet Introduction

The Ethernet technology is used for in-vehicle communication, instrumentation and calibration, and diagnostics via DoIP, as well as in ADAS and infortainment areas for automation and autonomous driving. Ethernet is also used as the data backbone and is connected to various communication domains on the E/E(Electric/Electronic) architecture. Unlike non-car Ethernet, the car bus uses non-isolated single twisted-pair cabling, which is designed to be lighter and cheaper. It also uses PAM3 modulation to increase data rate and stability.
